The Nexus Saga Chapter 1

Outskirts of Angel Falls

approx. 6 months before Nexus arrival

On the outskirts of the city limits, at a small rest stop that was little more than a picnic bench and an old cooking pit. Two men approached the sign welcoming them to Angel Falls. One stood about 6'1, the other 6'7. The shorter one was of a lean muscular build with dark hair that when the light caught it, gave off a blue shade. The other was built like he belonged in the line up of the Mr. Olympia competition and had jet black hair. Both men had piercing blue eyes.

"Honestly, Kal. You think he'll be here?" The big guy asked.

"Well, it is only a hunch that my guess is he would be drawn to a place like this. We were after all." Kal responded.

"Good point, but I just hope he's actually here. Otherwise, 20 plus years of searching this portion of the galaxy after.....you know."

"*sigh* I remember, which is why we've been searching for over 20 years. To find the late General's son, I promised him I wouldn't stop looking until I found him alive.......or otherwise." Kal stated, with a clear sound of sadness in his voice.

"Aw, come on! The kid HAS to be alive! If he's General Jarvel and Lady Kimmel's son, he might have conquered the planet and we can add it to the empire."

Kal frowed his eyebrow.

"Dar, Does this place look like one of us were here?"



a brief pause.



"Hey, Kal. Since it's just you and me right now. Tell me, honestly. Do you think that ambush by Scalantran  pirates was random or do you think someone sold us out?"



"Later man, let's find Talzor."

What felt like a year to him was in reality only a day. Jack was transported from the crash site to an unknown location. Jack woke up on the cold hard concrete.  What would be considered pitch black to a normal person, Jack was able to see, Arions developed night vision much like most nocturnal animals to adapt to the environment of the planet of Aria. It looked as if it was an old subway tunnel that hadn't been used in quite a while. Jack navigated his way through the tunnel; he could hear the faint squeaks of rats, the dripping of water droplets, he could almost discern how far away. He then came up to a...construction site? Sure enough: tools, lunch pales even blue prints. It looked as though everyone simply left for the day but never came back.

"We believe this site is about 80 years old, We theorize this tunnel was part of a public works project right before what the humans called "The Great Depression". After reviewing the chain of events that took place after, this project was simply forgotten. You would also find it interesting, Jack that your sister had passed through here three months ago."



"What? Why would she be here in a place like this? She wouldn't set foot in a place like this if there was even a chance there was a spider in here....or rats."



"We are aware, you once stuck a fake spider in your sisters bed as a practical joke."



Jack chuckled," Yea, I wasn't exactly the best behaved kid. You saw that."



"You are referring to this?" The Nexus then projected an image of a school cafeteria with a young Jack sitting at a table tightly clinching his fists while three older students surrounded him. There was no audio but Jack remembered the words well, as well as what followed. The first kid, looking to be at least twice Jack's age, shoved Jack's face into his plate. The other two laughed but just then Jack lunged at the kid, tackled him to the ground, Jack mounted the kid and began raining down punches on the kids face. One tried pulling Jack off but got elbowed as a result and stumbled backwards to the ground as Jack resumed his beating. The vision ended as a teacher tired pulling him off.



"Yep, I was about 7 at the time. The other kids were about 12-13. He went from being a self proclaimed tough guy to a tear soaked bloody mess. I still remember him crying for his mommy afterwards, he actually had to have surgery because I broke so many bones. I was expelled and my parents had to home school me until high school. My brother and sister were jealous."



"A scene like that would've been rather normal on Aria, males frequently get into altercations."



"And consider how public schools are today, I would be their worst nightmare. I never got into a fight at school after that......and I put every single book worm to shame with my grades.



"Arions also pride themselves on knowledge as much as their ability to fight and their sexual prowess."



".....And yea, I got laid A LOT."



"We believe there is an old Arion adage fathers pass down to their sons: 'Fight like a warrior, Lean like a scholar, act like a gentleman, and fuck like a whore.'



"That is the smartest thing anyone has ever said anywhere." Jack retorted, "So, anyway, why was my sister here?"



"We can only speculate since there is no physical evidence or recordings of any kind we have no further data. You would need to ask her yourself."



"But how did you know she was even here?"



" Almost all Metas leave trace levels of radiation, nothing harmful. Each is unique to an individual much like your finger prints."



"And you knew that, how?"



"The explaination of this function requires more than a short conversation. For now we must disguss Vasuvis."



"Very well, whats the guys deal?"



"He is a Galen, an anchint alien race our creators, the elders were at odds with. The Galens uplifted many races, humans included. They even crafted the first Velorians."



"Why exactly."



"They were dying. The female of the Galens were wiped out, our creators doing. They engineered the Velorians as a means to repopulate. However, for some unknown reason, they abandoned the project to pursue other alternatives, all but Vasuvis. He was a 'black sheep' as the earthlings would say."



"Why?"



"Vasuvis is an animal, plan and simple. He simply wants to make the rest of the galaxy suffer for his peoples suffering."



Jack scoffed while shaking his head," And I was the best suited for the Job? Why not Soviet Superwoman? She's a big time 'heroine'."



"We had originally chose her but there was confict within our concescus. Some wanted The female Russian while others wanted you."



"Really? What was the deciding factor?"



"The side advocating you made the more compeling argument. While we believe she would wield this power with responisble, she wouldn't however be able to terminate him if need be. You, on the other hand, being of Arion decent and your military history



"So, the deciding factor was you thought I would kill this guy?"



"Yes."



"That bad huh?"



"It could be."



"Why me? There's other who would--



"Not have been reached in time."



"And you came to me?"



"....Yes."



"Because I was convinent?"



"....Unkown."



"Fine, which way is out of this place?"



"There is no need to locate an exit, we will simply teleport you."



"Thats all well and good but--" Before Jack could finish his sentence. He found himself on a roof top over looking the industrial district.".....where are we going?"



"Exactly, 1.254 miles from the previous location. This allows you to ask your sister why she was in the abandon subway."



"What the hell are you--" Once again Jack was cut off, but not by The Nexus.



"Excuse me, but unless this is an emergency you can't be on the roof of the building, it's considered tresspasing." A familliar female voice called out. Just then, Jack cringed at the thought of what was about to happen,"Hey! I'm talking to you!" The voice stated sounding rather annoyed. Jack turned to face the indivudual whom was decked out in a red,white and blue outfit and with long blonde hair and was built like an amazon with huge breasts. But reguardless of her apperence, that voice was unmistakeable. The blondes face whent from serious to shocked the minute she got a good look at him. The woman, most commonly known as Lady Liberty in this state, was in fact Jack's younger sister that hadn't seen or heard from him in almost three years,Jessica-Nicole Matthews.

"Hi....Jess..." Was all Jack could muster due to the wave of emotions he was masking from his sister. Jessica stood there for a few moments before snaping back to reality then walking towards her long lost brother but instead of throwing her arms out for a hug she clinched her left hand into a fist, cocked her arm back, and slugged her brother in the face.
